Rose of Northamptonshire Award
We are proud to have been awarded a Rose of Northamptonshire award, which recognises efforts to support our community through the Covid-19 pandemic.
Members of the public nominated groups and individuals around the county for the awards, jointly launched by the Lord Lieutenant of Northamptonshire, The High Sheriff of Northamptonshire and Northamptonshire County Council.
Since the pandemic started, we have launched several projects to support those who are socially isolated or struggling through furlough or job losses.
Throughout Spring and Summer, we delivered more than 4,000 wellness packs to individuals, families and care homes, ranging from children’s toys and crafts to afternoon tea for over-80s, all made by local bakers.
We have launched our Step programme helping people who have lost their jobs with CV help, mentoring and training to help them get back into employment.
During the summer holidays we ran a two-week programme for teenagers which offered online sport and fitness sessions alongside classes on budget cookery, gardening and financial planning.
In the lead up to Christmas we provided packs of toys, gifts and decorations to families to make the festive period that little bit easier, followed by everything needed for Christmas dinner and all the trimmings to more than 100 households.
Saffy Tuckfield, Chief Executive of Peak Empower, said: “It has been a challenging year for everyone, and we are pleased to have been able to support so many people and families and make life that little bit easier.
“The response we’ve had from the community has touched us all and we are so grateful to have been awarded the Rose of Northamptonshire. Thank you to the Lord-Lieutenant, High Sheriff and county council, as well as all those who have supported us since we launched in 2019.”
Keep up to date with our latest and future projects on our website.
